Big Butter Jesus, Our Neighbor

Big Butter Jesus aka Touchdown Jesus

I’ve referenced on a couple sites and forums that I live in Monroe, OH, home of “Big Butter Jesus.” That would be the garish statue at a megachurch alongside I-75 immortalized in the Heywood Banks song heard on Bob & Tom and elsewhere.

Before the song, the prevailing name around Cincinnati was “Touchdown Jesus,” which made for an entertaining FARK photoshop contest. (Be sure to check your good taste at the door.)

Anyway, the house Laura and I bought last summer is roughly five minutes away from said church. It also features neon lighting in the archways to add that extra touch of class. It probably comes as no surprise that there are two large flea markets in sight of said church.

Behold His Buttery Glow!
