Heard “‘92 Subaru” off Fountains of Wayne’s recent album played on the Musak at Wal-Mart today. I’m not quite sure what to think of that…
The first seasons of CHiPs and Fall Guy were released on DVD. Excellent!
After having a single I’d bought of Melissa Auf Der Maur’s play in iTunes the other day, as well as some Ryan Adams and Fountains of Wayne songs where she sang BGV’s, I decided to dig out Hole’s Celebrity Skin CD.
For being nearly 10 years old (released September of ‘98), and despite the persistent trainwreck that is Courtney Love, I was impressed that it’s aged well, and is still a really good album. Much like I’ve found with Aimee Mann’s albums, it flows well from track to track, so you can just let it play while driving. Nice, jangly melodic rock.
Just got this week’s email from Fraze announcing a couple more shows for this summer. Weird Al on June 29th, awesome…Kenny G on July 20th, not so much.
Beyond the water hose and any sort of paper product he can eat, Lantern has further refined his tastes to now include a spare network cable laying in the office.
In watching yesterday’s Rolex 24 coverage, it was mentioned that Scott Pruett is 46 years old. Dang! I guess it has been 20 years since he was the young guy in Roush’s IMSA GTO/SCCA Trans-Am efforts, and I was a kid in junior high.
Laura and I spent a day of our vacation to Wilmington working again as extras on One Tree Hill. It was the fourth episode of the season that is airing tonight (10.18). We worked on a concert scene at the fictional club “TRiC” (otherwise known as the top floor of a nondescript brick warehouse) featuring a guest spot by rapper Lupe Fiasco. It was great people watching the few keen on making $7/hour extra work their big break, melding all the trainwreck potential of American Idol tryouts with Flavor of Love gold diggers. I think we’ll show up in the immediate background in one shot, and I walked through another close-up.
The Black Keys and Barenaked Ladies will be in town on successive nights in November. Coolness abounds. Note that there’s still time for Aimee Mann and Pete Yorn to fill out the weekend.
Plans are afoot for the Southern West Virginia Region to hold a Solo event at the Wood County Airport in late October. Solo generally doesn’t appeal to me, but it sounds like fun for the whole family. With Mom now a Mid-Ohio School graduate, we might be able to coax her into giving the Olds a shot. Steve plans on running his T/A, and Ted might likely run his LS6 RX7. Cal Octane is also threatening to bring up something from his fleet, most likely his first-gen Civic that I drove in my only Solo a few years ago.
I awoke this morning to fading memories of an unusual dream. For reasons unknown to me, I found myself sitting next to Teo Fabi. Not sure where; not sure why. I elected to point out that one of my earliest memories in life was watching him win the ‘81 Can-Am race at Mid-Ohio. Continuing on, I also noted that, as a rural southeast Ohio boy of three-and-a-half, I wondered what the heck kind of name was “Day O Bobby” out there winning in Paul Newman’s Bud car. He politely laughed, and I woke up before any other benchracing ground was covered. I wonder if Dominos used some special oregano on our pizza?
